Awards Programs

The Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador Entrance Scholarship, valued at $1,000, will be awarded annually to an undergraduate student in their first year of study in any program at Memorial University of Newfoundland who is a member of the Sea-Hawks Varsity Swim Team. The recipient will have been a competitive swimmer in Newfoundland and Labrador for a minimum of three years and be in good standing with Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador. As a student-athlete, the recipient must have achieved an 80% final admission average and meet the other requirements for a scholarship as defined by the University. Financial need may be used as a determining factor in case there are candidates of equal academic standing. The scholarship will be awarded by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards on the recommendation of the Director, Varsity Athletics.

The scholarship awarded annually during the fall semester.

 The Swimming NL Bursary, valued at $1000.00 annually, is available to a student continuing beyond their first year of studies at Memorial University of Newfoundland. The bursary recipient will be a swimmer in good standing with Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador and will be a returning member to the Memorial University of Newfoundland Seahawks Varsity Swim Team. Awarding of this bursary will be based on swimming performance at the varsity level. It will be awarded by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships and Financial Aid to a student in good academic standing at the university.

 Swimming NL is proud to recognize sporting accomplishments and contributions through our Annual Awards Program. Awards are presented in four categories including Male and Female Swimmer of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year. 

Recipients for the 2022-23 Annual Awards will be announced in the Spring of 2024. 

 The Swimming NL Dedicated Swimmer Award is presented to one competitive swimmer from each club across the province. The successful swimmer will be selected by each team’s coach(s) and executive.

The selected swimmers will receive an award valued at $100.

This award is not to be based solely on performance. The swimmer selected from your club must display the following selection criteria/characteristics:

• Excellent attendance and commitment at practices and swim meets.

• Positive attitude displayed.

• Leadership and team spirit displayed toward all team members.

• Improvements of personal best times in the current swim season.

Recipients for the 2023-24 Dedicated Swimmer Awards will be Announced in the Spring 2024.
